Company Background

In 2002 Consolidated Entertainment Private Limited (CEPL) was started with the challenge of opening a network of multiplexes in eastern India.

CEPL was one of the early members of Multiplex Association of India (under FICCI) and it pioneered the multiplex revolution in eastern India by successfully getting both the West Bengal and Assam governments to come out with one of the friendliest multiplex promotion policies in the country.

In 2003 CEPL partnered with the Ambuja Group, one of the leading business houses of India with exposure in industries like cement, realty and hospitality to form Calcutta Cine Pvt Ltd (CCPL). Soon CCPL launched its first multiplex in Swabhumi, Kolkata under the brand name of 89 CINEMAS. Subsequently, CCPL partnered with SREI, another leading business house of India with exposure in NBFCs, infrastructure and hotels, to extend the brand 89 CINEMAS to other parts of Bengal. Eventually, 89 CINEMAS became one of the leading multiplex players in eastern India.

In 2007, CCPL successfully merged with Inox Leisures Limited, one of the leading multiplex chains in the country, and a public listed company.

Thereafter, Daiwik Hotels was launched with a focus on providing international quality hospitality products and services in the vast underserved pilgrim circuits of India.

Continuum Energy Pte Ltd, Singapore, one of the promoters, is a leading player in the Indian renewable energy market and has established over 500 MW of operating wind assets in various parts of the country.
